WSJ’s Hawkins is leaving – Talking Biz News

He plans to present a podcast venture on race and equality in the coming weeks.

He is a news editor and camera reporter for the Wall Street Journal, reporting on video, digital, print and broadcast platforms. He is also the author of the forthcoming book “Nobody Slave: How Revealing My Family History Freed Me”.

Hawkins is a general duty reporter and is known for on-camera interviews with superstars, influential newsmakers and icons in the entertainment and sports world. He has reported across the United States and around the world and has written hundreds of articles in every section of the WSJ, including Page One.

Hawkins previously covered General Motors Co. in the Detroit bureau of the Journal. Prior to reporting on the challenges facing GM and America’s “big three” automakers, he worked as a business reporter for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and Wisconsin State Journal. During his career, he covered a wide range of industries including electrical and telecommunication utilities, markets, manufacturing, and technology.

Hawkins received his BA in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he served as editor of the editorial pages of the Badger Herald student newspaper.
